Many People Think Its Okay To Tell A “White Lie.”
I have at times been caught in them and found out most of the time‚ they are not worth the difficulty they cause! Its going to be difficult but follow me on this one. Even a silly story that’s not true can lead to an outcome that was not anticipated or wanted.
I have changed my policy and decided its much better to be honest than to lie even a little bit. There are many kinds of lies‚ those we tell‚ and those we don’t tell by purposely not disclosing something that May be important to that situation.
I am reading about this in “Compassionate Samurai by Brian Klemmer‚ He compares it to the process of tempering a sword‚ it must be folded and beaten 80‚000 times.
While he clarifies this is not something you use to hurt‚ their May be some cutting to heal‚because the ultimate objective is closeness intimacy and trust.
While its obviously important in personal relationships it is actually equally or even more important in business relationships. If we loose the trust of a customer‚ a associate or a prospect‚ it May be difficult if not impossible to repair that breach.
Unfortunately‚ we are not Pinocchio and we don’t grow a long stick in front of our face‚ but there are repercussions‚ the only difference is now or later. Think of it as paying a bill; will you pay cash now or pay with a credit card and have a bill come due at a difficult time?
