Tracking Your Progress In Your Business Through a Journal!
I always say‚ keep a diary and someday it’ll keep you. ~ Mae WestDiscipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. ~ Jim Rohn
Take time to gather up the past so that you will be able to draw from your experience and invest them in the future. ~ Jim Rohn
Jim Rohn talked a lot about keeping a journal of every day. Gathering the past to help build a better tomorrow‚ well that is nothing more than a discipline and it is as important as any of the other disciplines. What we think about and what we write has more power over us than anything else. If we write it‚ we are even more likely to put it into practice. Do you plan your day on paper before you start your day? I find that helps create a serious focus on what is most important to accomplish.
What Is A Business Diary or Journal?
To keep a business journal‚ is simply a matter of preference and convenience on what you decide to do it with. It can be a fancy journal‚ or it can be a steno‚ or it can be a word document. The most important thing is creating the discipline and taking action on it daily. It should not just be the complaints about what is not right though‚ make sure it actually helps you build what you want!
It should be a way to measure your progress on the goals that you have set. Make sure it has your goals in it. In the video today‚ I talked about finding an old sticky note that was on my monitor for a long time then it fell off‚ but the key thing is that it was written‚ and it was in my subconscious. Without knowing I made it happen! It’s something that you will want to review frequently so keep it in such a way that it can be read back. I started one at one time in a software‚ that I couldn’t get back into‚ so I lost those thoughts. At other times‚ I also have been scattered and it was all over the place. I found for me‚ a loose leaf works best.
Goals and Setting Them
What better place to have your goals in a concrete place. I have a day journal in a loose leaf‚and every morning before I start my day‚ I write out the goals to achieve‚ both long term and the daily goals. Then I can turn it into a checklist. Of course you must also be accountable to yourself‚ and review them to see if you made any progress. Don’t make excuses and let yourself off the hook; but if you had a day you got off track. Start anew the next day and adjust as necessary.
One key thing here‚ this is not about abusing yourself if you didn’t achieve something. Make sure that you celebrate even the smallest progress!
